At Florida Driving Academy, our science-backed testing process places you at the right level for driver training because every student is unique. Our SkillFit™ Assessment is a comprehesive evaluation comprised of (1) a Knowledge Exam, (2) LearnFit™ Test, and (3) Driving Skills Test to scientifically determine the student's best starting point in one of our three MasterFit™ Curriculum Levels: Basics, Intermediate or Advanced. Whether you're a beginner or have some driving experience, our SkillFit™ Assessment ensures you're matched with the right course to maximize your learning and driving potential.

What’s Included in the SkillFit™ Assessment?

  1. Knowledge Exam (50 minutes):

    • A mix of 100 true/false, matching, scenario-based, risk-assessment, and general knowedge questions designed to test your understanding of road signs, traffic laws, and driving rules and safety practices. Examples include:

      • "When can you legally pass a cyclist on a narrow road?"

      • "How do you handle a flashing yellow arrow at an intersection?"

      • "What is the recommended action if you encounter a deer on the road?"

      • "Which of the following is a common effect of texting while driving?"

      • "What should you do if your vehicle's accelerator sticks?"

  2. Driving Skills Test (60-70 minutes):

    • A practical driving test divided into 6 modules, weighted according to safety priorities:

      • Vehicle Inspection (5 minutes): Can you prep a car for safe driving?

      • Core Maneuvers (20 minutes): Includes 3-point turns and emergency stops.

      • Public Road (15 minutes): The ultimate test of real-world readiness, evaluating your ability to navigate through public roads.
