Basics focuses primarily on the driving environment—traffic laws, intersections, lane positioning, right-of-way, signs and signals, and the practical skills required to operate safely and correctly on public roads. Florida Driving Academy’s core driver-development program focuses on the automobile itself—how vehicles behave, why they behave that way, and how drivers learn to control them. Four 90-minute sessions combine knowledge training with behind-the-wheel instruction in Driving Physics and Basic Vehicle Dynamics, including grip, weight transfer, braking, corner rotation, throttle control, and vehicle balance. Two additional 90-minute sessions transfer those skills to the complexity of public-road driving. A seventh and final two-hour behind-the-wheel session is dedicated to Road Test preparation. Includes the FOUNDATIONS I textbook written by FDA Founder James R. Burns.

Purchased a new or different vehicle? Learn how it accelerates, brakes, turns, and responds before everyday driving becomes the teacher. Public roads are not the place for a young driver to explore the capabilities and limits of an unfamiliar vehicle. This two-session, behind-the-wheel program provides supervised vehicle familiarization in a controlled environment, allowing FDA graduates to deliberately experience their vehicle’s acceleration, ABS braking, steering response, grip, and handling while calibrating their existing driving skills to their new vehicle.
