The Foundation for Public-Road Driving
The Basics Level Curriculum is an eight-session program designed for new drivers who need structured instruction and extensive experience applying their developing skills on public roads.
Each 90-minute session combines 30 minutes of knowledge training with 60 minutes of behind-the-wheel instruction, connecting what the student learns with what the student must recognize, decide, and do behind the wheel.
Students develop their understanding of traffic laws, signs, pavement markings, intersections, right-of-way, roadway positioning, parking, and other essential elements of everyday driving. Throughout the program, principles of driving physics and vehicle control are incorporated into behind-the-wheel instruction to help students understand why the vehicle responds as it does.
The emphasis is not simply on preparing for a test. It is on developing the judgment, awareness, vehicle-control skills, and public-road experience necessary for increasingly independent driving.

- Study: Review the assigned Syllabus and Florida Driver Handbook chapters before each session.
- Test: Complete the Online Quiz to reinforce and assess understanding before instruction.
- Prepare: Arrive ready to apply that knowledge during the behind-the-wheel portion of the session.
